How does Cocoon’s pricing work?

Cocoon charges an upfront annual per employee per year fee based on company size plus a one-time implementation fee, giving employers transparency and predictability into their annual costs. All leave types are included in Cocoon’s standard pricing. Check out our pricing page for more details. 

Why should I offer paid personal leave?

Leave doesn’t wait for when it’s most convenient for someone to take time away from work. There are going to be times when employees need to take personal leave for reasons that don’t fit into traditional leave types. Paid personal leave gives employees the privacy to determine their own priorities, rather than a rigid policy dictating which periods of life are “important enough” to warrant time away from work. Paid leave is now table stakes for employees, and the employers that will set themselves apart are those who show up for their employees through all of life’s moments.

Does my company have to offer a personal leave policy to use this feature?

No, though we strongly encourage employers to consider implementing a formal policy for this leave type. Cocoon uses “personal leave” to capture and track any employer-authorized leaves that do not fall into other Cocoon leave types (FMLA or leave accommodations). You might authorize leaves for a variety of reasons either covered by an official, documented company policy, or as one-offs not covered by an official policy. Some common examples of official leave policies you might offer and use this feature to manage are: compassionate leave, bereavement leave, pregnancy loss leave, sabbatical. 

How does Cocoon determine employee eligibility for personal leaves?

You as the employer fully control the decision to approve or deny any personal leave requests. In most cases, though not all, personal leaves will not be covered by any entitlements (i.e. FMLA or state leave laws). Cocoon’s personal leave experience empowers you to review each leave request and determine whether the request complies with your official policy—or, if the request is not covered by an official policy, determine whether you want to approve it as a one-off.
